Automation emails: reports go to them, failures go to you.

Send failure notices to different recipients than the reports themselves, so clients and leadership only ever see finished work. Plus CC, BCC, a custom subject line and an optional disclaimer on every automation email.

Since Automations launched, teams have used them to send reports to colleagues, to leadership and to clients. Which raised a fair question: when a run needs attention, who should hear about it? Almost never the people the report was for. So now failure notices can go to different recipients than the reports themselves.

Reports go to them. Failures go to you.

In an automation’s email options there is a new switch: Send failure emails to different recipients. Turn it on, and any run that needs a look lands with you or your ops inbox, while the regular recipient list only ever receives finished reports. Your Monday digest to a client stays a Monday digest. If something needs fixing, you find out first and quietly.

The switch prefills with your own address. Leave it off and nothing changes for your existing automations.

CC, BCC, subject and a disclaimer

Earlier this summer the same email options gained the controls a report email needs to look like it came from your team:

  • CC and BCC lists, so the account lead is copied without being the addressee.
  • A custom subject line, so the email reads “Weekly organic performance - Acme” rather than the automation’s internal name.
  • An optional disclaimer footer, for the note your legal or client team wants under every automated report.

Together with charts rendered into the email, an automation can now send something you would be happy to have your name on - and keep the plumbing to yourself.

Try it

Open any automation, expand Email options, and the new fields are there. Set the failure recipients once and forget about them.
