Canvas: a place for the long work.

Chat is brilliant at conversation. A twelve-section brief, a full draft or a monthly report deserves more room than a message bubble. Canvas gives it that room: a panel that opens beside the conversation for the substantial work - briefs, drafts, reports, page extracts - while the chat itself stays short and quick.

It is the biggest change to how you work in Content Chat since it launched. Here is what it does.

The agent writes there on its own

Ask for a content brief and the reply in Chat is a couple of sentences. The brief itself streams into the canvas as it is written, section by section. Ask for a change - “add a section on internal links”, “cut the intro in half” - and the agent edits the document in place instead of sending the whole thing again. Every document carries a version number, so you can watch it evolve.

Tabs, saved with the chat

One conversation can hold several documents: the brief, the draft written from it, the report on how the old page performed. Each is a tab. They stay with the session, so a brief you built last week is right there when you reopen the thread, panel and all.

Highlight anything and ask about it

Select a passage in a document and hit Ask about selection (or Cmd+I / Ctrl+I). The quote drops into the composer as a pill, and the agent knows exactly which lines you mean. “Make this paragraph sharper” does precisely that, to precisely that paragraph, and nothing else moves.

Your pages, in the same panel

Hover any link to your own site in an answer and choose Open in canvas to see the crawled page - images included - next to the conversation. The agent can do the same: pull a full page extract into a document to rework, or open a file it just created for you to preview before you download it.

How teams use it

• Brief, then draft. Build the brief in one tab, ask for the draft in the next, and refine both by highlighting what is wrong.
• Refresh a page. Open the live page in the canvas, ask for the rewrite in a second tab, and compare them side by side with the conversation between.
• Monthly report. Let the agent assemble the report with charts in the canvas, then ask for the executive summary to be rewritten for the CMO without touching the rest.

You steer with selections and instructions; the agent does the writing. Editing the text directly in the canvas is next on the list.

Try it

Canvas is live in every workspace, nothing to enable. Open a chat, ask for a brief on a page you are about to refresh, and watch it land in the panel. Highlight the weakest section and ask for a better one.
